We are less than 2 weeks away from Christmas, and I’m pretty much done with buying presents for everyone.
But then I thought it would be quite nice for the older ladies and gents, and general foodies in the family who might be more appreciative (and surprised!) to receive something a little homemade from myself.
I say surprised because I hate cooking.
I would never think to bake cookies or cakes in my spare time – to me it’s too stressful and anything I make always seem to go wrong, so for parties or dinners I would much rather pick something nice up from M&S in some fancy packaging and present that instead – haha!
| BEST CHOCOLATE CRINKLE COOKIES EVER
I decided to pick something pretty easy and festive looking for my first attempt, so I googled ‘Chocolate Crinkle Cookies’, and the first recipe that came up was from Betty Crocker
| WHAT YOU NEED
- 1/4 Vegetable Oil
- 2 oz Chocolate Powder
- 1 Cup of Granulated Sugar
- 1 Tsp of Vanilla Extract
- 2 Eggs
- 1 Cup of Plain Flour
- 1 Tsp of Baking Powder
- 1/4 Tsp of Salt
- 1/4 Cup Of Icing Sugar
I tweaked the recipe slightly to fit in with what I already had in the cupboards
So instead of using melted chocolate, I’ve used chocolate powder
And instead of making an ambitious 72 cookies, I halved everything to make just 36
| FOLLOW THE RECIPE EXACTLY
I then spent the next hour meticulously following the recipe – I mean there are only 4 steps so you can’t really go wrong!
| STEP 1 & 2 & 3
- Mix all the ingredients up and then leave it in the fridge for 3 hours
- Then roll into tiny balls and cover them all in icing sugar
- Heat oven to 180 degrees
| STEP 4
- Bake for 10 – 12 mins
After 5 mins, you should start to see the cracks forming in the oven! Very exciting!!
Thats it, all done!
Super easy and no fancy equipment needed.
Inside should be nice, soft and chocolatey – delish!
I think for my first try, these Chocolate Crinkle Cookies turned out pretty damn good if I do say so myself!
They look just like the picture – which is always a good sign!
| USE RIBBON AND BOXES TO DECORATE
To finish off, I thought it would be really cute to wrap them up in tiny little boxes and add a big fancy ribbon on top! <3
What do you think!?
Let me know if you give this a try! xx
