THE ALCHEMIST MANCHESTER
There are two Alchemists in Manchester. One in Spinningfields and one on New York Street.
I've been going to the Spinningfields venue for years, because it's 'the' place for after work drinks
All the cocktails, the atmosphere and the whole decor inside is absolutely beautiful with high ceilings, large glass windows and a gold contemporary theme running throughout - it's so very Instagram!
So a few weeks ago, I got the chance to pop into the newest venue on New York Street (just by Piccadily Gardens), to try out their latest menu
If you're an early riser, the Eggs Royale are done beautifully well here.
For lunch, choose from a selection of tapatisers to share, or go for something a bit bigger off their main menu.
The main dishes are very varied, so I don't think there is a set cuisine because you can choose anything from a Falafel Wrap, to a bowl of Japanese Ramen, to a Fillet Steak Sandwich, or even a simple Fish & Chips - there is definitely something for everyone!
For sides, I'm always a fan of their Sweet Potato Fries, but the you definitely have to try their Crispy Kale!
STARTERS: LEMON CHILLI SQUID & CHICKEN WINGS
MAINS: BLACKENED SALMON WITH SESAME RICE & DUCK JAPANESE RAMEN WITH ORIENTAL VEGETABLES
DESSERT: VANILLA CHEESECAKE WITH PLUM COMPOTE & STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING
The dessert menus are always my favourite part!
We went for the Vanilla Cheesecake, which was deliciously rich and creamy, and perfectly balanced off with a sharp plum compote
For our second choice, you can never go wrong with a classic Sticky Toffee Pudding.
Made up of a sweet soft cake covered in a rich toffee sauce, and topped off with a generous scoop of soft vanilla ice cream - it was too perfect!
DRINKS: THE FLAVOUR CHANGING ONE & THE MANGO SHAKE
As mentioned before, The Alchemist's are notoriously popular and most well known for their quirky, and almost magical mixtures of cocktails.
It's a place where the mixologists definitely push the boundaries with new techniques and flavour combinations.
Expect smoke and bubbles, colour changing effects and loads of conical flasks filled with all sorts of spirits. Seeing the drinks put together is really a fun and creative experience, and great conversation starters!
Plus with most drinks around the £8 - £10 mark, so it's alot more reasonable than you'd first expect!
We decided to try the Colour Changing One, which was half green and half red. Where the red was made up of raspberry and apple flavours, and the green was made up of a mint and chocolate flavour - it was definitely a different combination for us, but certainly downright delicious!
The second drink we tried was the non alcoholic Mango Shake (because I was driving!) A mix of orange, apple, lemon, mango, passionfruit all topped off with a white chocolate foam - amazingly fruity and fresh with a twist!
A COFFEE TO FINISH
Considering our visit was during lunch time, I'm not sure how we managed to fit in a 3 course meal with coffee!
The whole visit was amazing as always, the atmosphere was vibrant and lively with a mix of people from couples, to work professionals, girls out shopping and young families - the restaurant caters for everyone and it's very reasonable for the quality of food and drinks you get.
The staff all seemed genuinely happy to be there, and really helpful to point you in the right direction when you're feeling completely overwhelmed by the drinks menu!
It's definitely a unique experience, and a bar that stands out from the rest in Manchester, so I would really recommend visiting if you've not been before! x
